OK, so I've pretty much played with Balloons! all day today [that's yesterday now, this post took a little long than expected], and I love it. I do have a few thoughts, questions, feature requests, and general observations…
Replying to Balloons
My memory is terrible, and on a couple of occasions it would've been handy if I could switch between "compose" and "read" modes.
Balloon Variety
Aside the obvious cosmetic differences, are there any other differences between balloon types? Are certain balloons lighter and thus fly higher? Are certain balloons more durable? (Which nicely leads to my next point)
Balloon Lifespan
Is there some magic in the black box that calculates a balloons lifespan? It seems to me that as Balloons! grows more popular a mechanism to expire "uninteresting" balloons may be handy!
Balloons Statistics!
We're all geeks here, and everyone knows geeks love nothing more than data. I can think of all sorts of things. Maximum altitude attained, max speed, distance travelled, a kml file of the balloon's path? Aggregate data based on my general usage; balloons launched, balloons tagged, time spend in Balloons!… I could go on forever.
Also, how about some overall statistics? An additional menu option with things like "There are xx balloons currently afloat", "The oldest balloon has been afloat for xx days", "The most travelled balloon has traveled xx miles", "The fastest balloon has travelled xx miles in xx days"… Again, I could go on.
API?
OK, one thing a geek might love more than data - data with easy access! Are there any plans to implement an API (perhaps an API key could be included with the paid app, or an in-app purchase?). I'd love to show off my balloon stats :)
