This sounds like such a neat application and I couldn't figure out why I couldn't find it. Turns out it's only for iPhone. Boo-hiss! Nobody wants my $2.99????
Why not for iTouch???

We'd love to have it on the iTouch but our problem is that the app relies heavily on the camera and GPS, both things the iTouch is without. We'd take your $2.99 but it wouldn't be fair... :(

Ohhhhh...thanks, Andrew, I didn't realize there were pictures involved. Thought it was just messages. The iTouch does have location ability but sadly no camera. Yet. I'll hold onto my $2.99 until Apple adds a camera. ;)

Is the camera really that integral to the experience? As aristillus says, the Touch does have Skyhook-based location ability for those in urban areas (or otherwise near registered wifi hotspots). Even Loopt is letting their app run on the iPod Touch now.
It's a shame that you're cutting off iPod Touch users from running your app.
Out of 45 million combined iPhone and iPod Touch sales reported by Apple, only 10 million iPhone activations were reported by AT&T. Even if we assume that another 5 million iPhones were activated overseas (it's probably more like 1 million or fewer), that would still be twice as many iPod Touches as iPhones that could run your app. You're cutting off a pretty big potential audience.

We Touch people like communicating, too, you know. And Distant Shore runs on both Touches and iPhones...

Hi
The lack of camera is definitely one of the reasons we cut iTouch from the final build of Balloons, we feel that it is really important that users can attach pictures to their balloon.
However, the final reason was because some of our beta testers had really strange bugs with location being reported completely wrong. One tester was in Yorkshire, England and his location was reported as San Francisco. This kind of bug is very harmful to the balloons experience as it would make people think the whole thing is faked and ruin the magic of believing where balloons have travelled from.
This bug is something we do intend to look at in the future but for now we are concentrating on the iPhone, I wish we had a bigger development team so we could do more of this stuff at once but it is just the two of us!
